Who deserves to lose its sponsorship?

Nowadays companies commonly choose famous and successfull personalities to represent their brand. By doing so, a brand uses the relationship between the public and the superstar as a channel to reach its audience. Once the publiceffectively associates the brand to the super star, feelings such as admiration and identification are also channeled to the brand. A great way to connect to the public.

However, what happens when the super star´s imageis affected by a scandal? Does the public relate also the negative image to the brand? What justifies losing a sponsorship?

  1. These athletes don't imagine how many people they affect or influence, specially children and young athletes. They must consider that. Losing the sponsorship is a small punishment.

  2. It's the same when someone is caught by dopping...it's a shame.

  3. I agree, its a shame....they don't think what the use of his image really means, they only see as a big check going into their accounts...and the worst is that with a good public relations campaign, they usually "turn the table" and get back with the sponsors, so do whatever they want!!

  5. These scandals only live for a while. In Brazil for example no one remembers of what Ronaldo did with those 'almost-girls'. He continues to be the good boy and sells a lot of different products on advertising campaigns.
